As the interim chief marketing officer, Ed Whitaker leads the effort to engage and inspire the National Trust’s core supporters and develop new audiences. He and his team develop and implement innovative marketing campaigns and products that attract new and existing advocates, donors, and corporate partners to the preservation community.

Ed brings deep experience developing high-impact marketing and communications strategies and campaigns for well-known nonprofit and corporate brands. Prior to joining the National Trust, Ed held marketing and communications leadership roles at The Nature Conservancy, National Audubon Society, clean energy consultancy RMI, as well as media brands including Yahoo!, Expedia, Vanity Fair, Conde Nast Traveler, and Newsweek. He began his career at venerable ad agency Young and Rubicam in New York City.

In his off hours, Ed enjoys all things outdoors and can be found gradually restoring, along with his wife, a c.1780 New England farmhouse in Connecticut.
